So it turns out the Paua Palace was available for us <3 <3 <3 So we'll be staying there again (not the eco-lodge) and hanging out with Paul (the collective name we gave all the weka who live under the house) and enjoying late-night baths in the outside tub.

And on our last night, in Nelson, we're staying in this adorable adobe cabin for a mere $50 a night:

No heat, no power, but sea views and candles galore. How romantic is that.
Bring on Easter Holidays!!!!

Date: 2009-03-28 03:05 am (UTC)Nelson's pretty, but hasn't ever blown me away. Maybe this'll change my mind. :) I'll think of you when I'm there and try and get a picture of the sunset.

Date: 2009-03-28 03:08 am (UTC)I'll admit that part of the appeal of Punakaiki for me is doing *zero* and enjoying the super super slow pace. My last trip there was almost spiritual and lead to some life-changing decisions. So I'm sort of hoping to use this trip as something similarly introspective and cleansing.
That being said ... it was so awesome staying with you at the beach house and it'd be such a treat to spend time with two special people in such a special place.
The house only has one real bed tho, and then some dangerous looking bunk beds. Not sure if that appeals for staying over - and you would need to stay the night if you made the drive.
Let's chat more!

As to places to sleep, well, there are multiple ways of solving that issue, we can consider that if we're coming over.
